Deciduous shrub 3 to 15 ft. tall occurring from near sea level to 9,000 ft. and adapted to a wide range of soil types. Common in montane or upland sites and along streams. Provides good to excellent forage for livestock and wildlife. Fruits provide valuable source of food for birds and small mammals.
