Cool season, long-lived, strongly rhizomatous sod-former adapted to wet or periodically wet soils such as meadows, waterways, or ranges in the subalpine zone. Tolerates acidic and salty soils and is very palatable and nutritious. Frequently used as pasture grass on wet meadows.
